When a horror novel gets everything right about survival, it deserves recognition. The Stricken is one hell of a ride—fast, brutal, and terrifyingly plausible. M.K. Trott doesn’t just throw in random scares; they build tension like a master, making you feel the characters’ desperation. This isn’t just a fight against monsters—it’s a test of human instinct, endurance, and sheer willpower.
If you’re a fan of apocalyptic survival stories with a horror twist, this book delivers. The action is tight, the horror is relentless, and the story sticks with you. I’d give it five stars if not for a few slower moments in the middle, but overall, this is a damn fine book. Trott’s got serious talent—I’ll be keeping an eye out for more.

If you love survival horror that feels real—where every decision matters and no one is safe—then The Stricken is an absolute must-read. Think The Mist meets 28 Days Later, but with Trott’s own unique, terrifying flair. Highly recommended!

Trott’s writing is cinematic, throwing the reader into the chaos with visceral imagery and relentless pacing. The horror is not just in the supernatural elements—the Stricken, marked by eerie red scars and unnatural rage—but also in the raw human emotions of fear, loss, and survival. The friendships and rivalries among the cast add depth, making their fates even more gut-wrenching.
