The Shadow Named Simon is eerie, heartfelt, and surprisingly emotional. At first, I thought this would be a standard small-town horror story, but it turned into something much deeper—an exploration of loneliness, fear, and connection. Rudy and Simon’s bond is so compelling, making the ending hit even harder. This book gave me Pan’s Labyrinth and A Monster Calls vibes in the best way. Highly recommend for fans of dark fairy tales and YA horror with heart.

A haunting, emotional, and beautifully written dark fantasy, The Shadow Named Simon is a tale of fear, prejudice, and unlikely friendship. Rudy’s journey from terror to understanding is deeply moving, and Simon is one of the most tragic and unforgettable characters I’ve encountered in horror fiction. The book captures that eerie, creeping dread of childhood nightmares while delivering a profound message about how we treat those who are different. If you love stories that blend gothic horror with heartbreaking humanity, this is a must-read.
